Spice Island Trader: Specialty Store for the Curious Foodie
On the streets of Little Baguio in San Juan, there are many stores, cafes and restaurants for anyone itching to find some new eats and quality dining; vut there’s this one particular store that really caught my attention. It is a small specialty store called Spice Island Trader that offers the best imported products that you tend to crave for. Some of the products available in this specialty store aren’t even available in local groceries and supermarkets. So, as a self-confessed foodie, I paid it a visit.
The Spice Island Trader Specialty Store
Spice Island Trader is a newly-opened specialty store, which aims to introduce the Filipino people to international food items new to the Philippine market. Ms. Pangilinan, Store manager of Spice Island Trader, tells us that the store directly imports its products from other countries, such as Japan, the UK, Italy and the US, to name a few. They provide quality products at the same price as its competitors (sometimes even lower) while providing its customers an unforgettable shopping experience at the same time.
The first thing I noticed when I entered the store was its quality atmosphere, ventilation and lighting. The food items are labeled, organized and kept in tiptop condition, as well.
I first checked out their drink mixes section and saw that they offer brands like Nestle, Ovaltine, Swiss Miss, Lipton and Kirkland – all of your dream partners in the morning!
They also have biscuits, nuts and chips available for road trips or just for something to snack on.
Coffee, tea, milk, or chocolate? They have it!

For home cooks and chefs, they also offer ingredients to spice up your cooking. from pasta sauces and condiments to wines and different meats. It is amazing to see that they even have 10 to 12 year-old wines. Their meats are also imported from countries, like the U.S., and are refrigerated to keep their quality intact.

Other than the usual imported items we see in our local supermarkets, I didn’t know that some of the items that they offer even exist. I mean, Cadbury Milk Chocolate spread? Pik-Nik Cheese Balls? Spam Tocino? I wanted to buy them all! 🙁
