6 Filipino Gymnasts Triumph at Jakarta’s International Gymnastics Invitation

The Philippine Gymnastics and Athletics Academy (PGAA) Sonny Ty (S. TY) Gymnastics and Sports Center conquered the mats at the 9th International Gymnastics Invitation hosted by Gavrila Gymnastics from November 10-12, 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Over 300 athletes participated from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Indonesia in the three-day event spanning Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

A Showcase of Filipino Excellence: PGAA S. Ty Gymnastics Sweeps Top Honors

All six gymnasts from the PGAA S. Ty delegation earned the highest honors in their respective categories in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), Levels 3 to 6: 

● Tallula Rose Antonino-Nadres: Individual All-Around Champion, Level 6 – Open Age ○ Gold Medals in Floor Exercise, Uneven Bars, and Vault; Bronze in Balance Beam. She also won the All-Around Champion, Level 4 (12 Years Old) title at the same competition last year. 

● Andrea Danielle Valdez: Individual All-Around Champion, Level 5 – 13 Years & Above ○ Gold Medals in Balance Beam and Floor Exercise; Silver in Vault; 4th Place in Uneven Bars. 

● Avielle Caballes: Individual All-Around Champion, Level 4 – 12 Years Old & Under 

○ Gold Medals in Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and Floor Exercise; Silver in Vault.

● Galiana Amelie Antonino-Nadres: Silver Medal, Individual All-Around, Level 4 – 12 Years Old & Under 

○ Silver Medals in Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and Floor Exercise; 7th place in Vault. 

● Phoebe Elaina Villanueva: Individual All-Around Champion, Level 3; 11 Years Old ○ Gold Medals in Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and Floor Exercise; Silver in Vault.

● Safiya Schoof: Individual All-Around Champion, Level 3; Age Category 9 Years Old & Under 

○ Gold Medals in Balance Beam, Floor Exercise, and Vault; Silver in Uneven Bars. 

Beyond Medals: PGAA S. Ty Gymnastics Inspires Future Athletes 

PGAA S. Ty Gymnastics takes pride in its gymnasts’ accomplishments, emphasizing the club’s mission to encourage young Filipinos, especially girls, to pursue sports, strive for excellence, and lead active, healthy lives. 

“This victory is not just about the medals. It celebrates what it took to get here – the girls’ hard work and mental strength, and the team effort from everyone involved,” expressed Founder and Head Coach Normita “Butch” Ty. “In every competition, gymnasts rely on themselves, the support of their families, and our coaching team to compete at their best. We’re proud and happy when it all comes together, like it did today,” added Assistant Head Coach Geneveve Ty.
