Four chefs from the Philippines won big at the 8th Best Chef Awards.
The Best Chef Awards, which occurred from November 4 to 6 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, recognized four Philippine-based chefs for honoring and elevating Filipino cuisine on the global gastronomic scene.
The following chefs who are recognized were Jordy Navarra of Toyo Eatery, Stephan Duhesme of Metiz, Chele Gonzales of Gallery by Chele, and Johanne Siy of Singapore-based Lolla.
Chef Jordy, the head chef and owner behind Toyo Eatery, was among the 177 chefs who were honored with Two Knives (World Class) by The Best Chef 2024. On the other hand, Chefs Chele, Stephan, and Johanne were each recognized with One Knife (Excellent).
Chef Jordy’s Toyo Eatery, which remains “The Best Restaurant in the Philippines,” has made it to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2019, 2023, and 2024.
Similarly, chef Stephan’s Metiz was also named among Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2023.
Meanwhile, Chef Chele is best known for showcasing his culinary expertise through Gallery by Chele, Asador Alfonso, Deli by Chele and Chef Chelle’s Kitchen, and Adviche F&B Solutions.
Finally, Singapore-based chef Johanne Siy, who grew up in Dagupan, Pangasinan, was previously named Asia’s Best Female Chef from the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy in 2023.
For this year’s edition of The Best Chef Awards, 550 chefs from 61 countries were recognized.

The chefs were rated on a tiered recognition system: One Knife (Excellent) is awarded to chefs who have achieved 20% or more of the maximum points; Two Knives (World Class) is awarded to those who have achieved 40% or more; and Three Knives (The Best) is awarded to chefs who have achieved 80% or more of the maximum points, indicating “top-tier culinary mastery.”
The Best Chef brings together a healthy and positive community of food lovers and chefs worldwide to “exchange knowledge and experiences, to discuss current topics, and to debate on universal topics from the world of fine dining.”
