Jollibee is a household name for Filipinos here and abroad. Apart from their classic menu items, such as the internationally-lauded Chickenjoy, they’re also known for some items that added a hint of excitement to their traditional flair. One such classic is theย Peach Mango Pie.

I personally like the Peach Mango Pie over their sundaes for dessert (at least until I tried the Salted Caramel Choco Sundae; I like both of them equally). Some two months after the launch of this new sundae variant of theirs, they came out with theย Choco Mallow Pieโฆ well, more like came outย again. This isn’t the first time they introduced this treat to the Filipinos masses. Now, I’ll be frank and say that the previous iteration of the dessert pie was far from perfect. Some called it a diabetes incarnate, but I prefer calling it as something that’s too sweet. Nowadays, however, things are different. It’s time for the Jollibee Pie Showdown!
Jollibee’s Peach Mango Pie
The ol’ classic
Just look at that perfectly golden crust! That’s one thing about the peach mango pie that I love. It’s a crisp and savory crust that goes very well with the sweet peach mango filling. Bite into it and it has that signature crunch that can be a bit messy with the oozing filling equally so. Flavor-wise, it’s just a bit North of sweet. The balance works quite well, actually. No wonder it’s been on the menu for years! However, its brother returns for a second time around packing a punch that could give this classic a run for its money.
Jollibee’s Choco Mallow Pie
Different look, different flavor, but can it play with the OG Jollibee dessert pie?
The new Choco Mallow Pie is a far cry from its predecessor. What was once a diabetes incarnate is now a highly refined treat that has a more palatable balance of flavor. The crust is still crisp and savory, but it has an added bittersweet taste thanks to the incorporation of dark chocolate. I. LOVE. DARK. CHOCOLATE! Bite into it, however, and the surprises don’t stop. What I expected to be an overly sweet filling now possesses a mellowed down sweetness. HOW?!
Well, the chocolate part of the filling is actually bittersweet dark chocolate this time around! It plays well with the expectedly sweet marshmallow half! The melding of these two flavors is nothing short of amazing. Kinda like how they tempered down the sweetness of their Choco Sundae with the incorporation of Salted Caramel. It doesn’t end there however.
The Peach Mango Pie can come across as a bit light and thin, texture-wise. Not so with the Choco Mallow Pie! It’s a thick filling, rich and sumptuous. I’d normally be overwhelmed by this, but I find myself reaching for more pies as I eat along!
So which is the better pie?
Will it be the Peach Mango…
…or the Choco Mallow?
Honestly? I can’t pick between the two! They’re both good in their own ways. Heck, if I decide to go for a pie from Jollibee, I’m sure to pick up both! If you’re in the mood for a classic, go for the Peach Mango Pie. If you want something a bit more, flavor- and texture-wise, go for the Choco Mallow Pie. At 29 pesos for the Peach Mango and 32 for the Choco Mallow, they’re actually quite affordable. So treat yourself! ‘Cause why not?
Treat yourself!
