Asia’s First ‘Portal’ Just Opened in BGC

Bonifacio Global City officially became the first site in Asia to host the “Portal” global artwork on January 21, 2026. The installation, located on 5th Avenue at Bonifacio High Street, establishes a real-time visual link between Metro Manila and a growing network of international cities.

Spearheaded by the Portals Organization, the BGC installation is the sixth of its kind globally. It joins existing locations in Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, and the United States. The project uses a 24/7 livestream to facilitate direct human interaction across borders, allowing pedestrians in Taguig to interact with people in Vilnius, Lublin, Dublin, Philadelphia, and Ipswich. A new Portal in Piauí, Brazil, is scheduled to join the network soon.

The choice of BGC as the inaugural Asian location reflects the district’s status as a hub for art, infrastructure, and a forward-looking community. Benediktas Gylys, founder of Portals Organization, noted that bringing the project to Manila expands the vision of a world connected by human encounter rather than borders. Enrique B. Manuel Jr., Chief Operating Officer of Bonifacio Global City, stated that the space is intended to celebrate diversity while sharing the vibrancy of Filipino culture with a global audience.

The technical execution of the BGC Portal was supported by various partners, including CMC Contract Manufacturing Pte Ltd, Eurasia Marble and Granite Inc., Excell Contractors and Developers Inc., Habitus Design Group, United Neon, and UnionBank. Connectivity for the continuous livestream is provided by Globe Telecom through its Globe at Home service.

Following the launch, the Portal remains open to the public at all hours. Further international locations are expected to be added to the network later this year.
